Practice Information
Participation:
-
Company dancers are required to participate in several studio
activities, such as parades, shows, competitions, fundraisers, and
conventions.
-
Company dancers must be in good standing in order to participate in
activities and benefit from fundraising activities.
Practice:
-
No observers are allowed during company practices.
-
Company dancers must be on time and ready to dance for every
scheduled practice and must be in dress code with everything they
need for practice.
-
Company dancers may not miss more than two company practices
and three regular classes or they will be dropped from the
team. You are required to contact all teachers if you will be unable
to attend a practice. Saturday practices may be required.
Required
Classes:
-
Must take at least 1.5 hours of regular class and 1 hour of
company class per week.
-
Some competition dancers may need extra help and may be required
to take additional classes at the discretion of the studio
instructors. Additional charges for private lessons will apply.
-
Company dancers may not drop required classes throughout the
dance season.
-
Instructors will decide what specific classes company dancers must
attend.
-
If
a dancer is competing in a solo they are required to take private
lessons, which is an additional charge to their regular and
company classes.
Attendance
Rules:
-
Competitions and conventions are mandatory for company dancers
unless other arrangements are made with the studio director.
-
Costumes must be in good shape at all competitions. If a costume is
ripped or stained it is the dancer's responsibility to fix it or she
will not be able to perform. All dancers are responsible for any
alterations that need to be made to their costumes.
-
Dancers are responsible for bringing all costume pieces to
each competition. If a part of costume is missing the dancer will
not perform.
-
Dancers should change out of their costume following their
performance.
-
Hair, make-up, and body glitter must be done the same for all group
dancers as specified by instructors.
-
Dancers must be at competitions, in costumes and ready to perform
at least one hour before scheduled competition time.
-
Good conduct is required at all conventions and competitions or
dancers will be sent home and will not perform.
-
Company dance team members and their parents will support one
another by sitting together during dances and awards,
cheering for teammates, speaking kindly of teammates at their
performances. Company dancers may not critique other teammates.
Prize Information:
-
All
dancers trophies won by competition team members are property of
Tutus and Tennis Shoes. Each member will receive a company
trophy at the end of the year.
-
Prize money awarded for specific dances at regional competitions
will be split evenly among participating dancers of the specified
dance and instructors.
-
Prize money can not be distributed until it is received from the
competition organization and deposited into the team account.
-
When a dancer is no longer a member of the team, for any reason,
he/she cannot claim any prize money or fundraising revenue as their
own.
Important
**For every competition there will be a deadline for entry fees**,
if you do not meet the deadlines you will not participate. There
will also be deadlines for other expenses such as costumes, etc....
nothing will be ordered for dancers that miss deadlines and therefore
will not be able to perform.
